Understanding Your Hair
Before you can begin to understand why hair thinning and baldness really occurs, you need to understand your hair on a personal level. Here are some of the factors that you need to consider:
The Hair Growth Cycle - 4 stages in the hair growth cycle to keep in mind

The Hair Growth Cycle - 4 Stages
The hairs on your head have a rather unique life cycle, meaning that you shed old hairs and grow new hairs on a daily basis. Some of your hairs are alive and growing, and others are not. They are dormant. This cycle is something that works perfectly in theory, but a tiny amount of disruption to it can cause it to look like your hair is starting to thin. The life cycle of your hair consists of several phases:
1. Anagen

The anagen phase is one of the most important phases in your hair cycle. It could also be called the active phase, in which the cells that can be found in the roots of each of your hair strands divide at a rapid rate. This causes approximately 1cm of new hair growth each month.
Your active cycle is unique because it can last for years. But, it can also be disrupted by things like medication, your hair type, traction alopecia and whether or not you look after your hair and your body. For most people, this phase lasts for between two and seven years. If you have the ability to grow your hair long, then your anagen stage is probably longer than average.
2. Catagen

The catagen phase in the life cycle of your hair is equally important, but in a different way. It could also be referred to as a transitional phase and it usually lasts for several weeks. If you have a full head of hair, then approximately 3% of the strands on your head will be in this transitional stage right now.
During the catagen phase, your hair will stop growing from the root. Your outer root sheath will shrink and it will attach to the root of your hair. This means that your hair is no longer active and it will no longer grow. If you have a short anagen phase, then this transitional phase would explain why you might struggle to grow your hair past a certain point.
3. Telogen

The telogen phase is one that could also be referred to as a resting phase, or a phase in which your hairs are completely inactive. Hairs that have entered this stage can never return to the way that they were during the anagen phase.
Again, if you have a full head of hair, then approximately 7% of all of the hairs on your head will currently be in this state. It usually lasts for around 100 days, before the final stage of the hair life cycle can occur.
4. Exogen

The exogen phase is the final stage in the hair life cycle. It could also be referred to as the shedding phase and it is a phase that we see on a daily basis. Do you lose strands of hairs regularly? If you do, don’t worry. It is normal and part of the shedding phase.
It is worth noting that if your hairs enter this phase too early, or too many hairs are in the exogen phase at once, then your hair loss will be noticeable. A lot of people who suffer from hair loss have an imbalance in this cycle. A cycle that would otherwise not be noticeable.
Why do we lose hair?

Now that you understand the intricacies of the hair cycle, it is important to also understand why we lose our hair sometimes. There are a number of different reasons why people lose their hair, but losing hair is a traumatic experience regardless of the cause. It is only natural to want to know why it is occurring.
Try not to worry. The things that can affect your hair fibers and each individual hair follicle on your head are often out of your control. Hair loss is a nightmare. The cycle that we have detailed above stops us from noticing that we lose our hair regularly. But, if less hairs are in the anagen phase than the catagen phase, then you are going to notice this. You won’t have hairs ready to replace the ones that you lose.
Here are some of the key reasons why you might be losing your hair:
1. Your hair loss could simply be to do with your age.

As we age, our hair growth cycle starts to slow down. This is a natural process and there isn’t a lot that we can do to combat it, but there are a few things that we can do to prolong the longevity of our hair. Later in this article we will be discussing some important vitamins, minerals and things that you should avoid if you want to prevent hair loss.
2. Your hair loss could be genetic.

Do your parents have thinning hair? What about your grandparents? Losing your hair might just be embedded in your DNA. Generally speaking, things like male pattern baldness and female baldness are hereditary. Both of these conditions usually occur gradually, but the patterns are usually quite predictable.
3. Your hair loss could be due to your hormones.

Have you heard of DHT? Dihydrotestosterone is something that we all produce more and more of as we age. If your hair follicles are sensitive to it and it builds up around them, then it could potentially stunt your hair from growing. Hormonal imbalances can also affect your hair growth.
There are a lot of different conditions that can cause your hormones to become imbalanced. Hormonal imbalances are actually very normal, as they are responsible for causing a number of different problems, like adult acne and weight gain. Naturally, a hormonal imbalance would also affect your hair.
4. Your hair loss could be due to a pre-existing medical condition or issue.
We have all heard people say that their hair is falling out because of stress. Luckily, any hair that is lost because of stress is usually temporary. There are plenty of other things that can cause hair loss, including smoking regularly, drinking a lot of alcohol and consuming a terrible diet.
We are sure that you get the picture, but a lot of medical conditions can also cause hair loss. For example, both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can cause the problem. So can alopecia, scalp infections and hair-pulling disorders.
If you are suffering from any of these conditions, then you should definitely consult a medical professional for advice. Don’t try to self-diagnose over the internet.
5. Your hair loss could be due to pregnancy.
Unfortunately, women who are pregnant and new mothers often experience some form of hair loss. Luckily, the hair loss that they experience is usually reversible and controllable as long as the right steps are taken. Menopause can also cause the same type of hair loss.
6. Your hair loss might be a side effect of treating certain conditions.

We all know that medications have side effects. Some of the drugs that are used to treat common conditions like arthritis and depression can cause hair loss. You should always check what side effects your medication can cause before you take any. If you notice that your medication is causing hair loss, then you should seek medical attention and see if an alternative is available.
7. Your hair loss might be caused by a specific hairstyle.
One of the most common causes of hair loss is actually completely avoidable. Any hair style that features a lot of pulling, like tight pigtails and braids, can cause something called traction alopecia. We will go into detail about what traction alopecia is later in this article.
If you are suffering from traction alopecia, then we would advise that you take your tight hairstyle out immediately (if you haven’t already). Try to avoid doing a hot oil hair treatment straight away because it could cause inflammation. If you do want to do one, then try to make sure that the oil is hot but not too hot, as scarring could lead to permanent hair loss.
How much hair loss is normal in a single day?
If you understand the hair loss cycle, then you will probably also understand that we all lose more hair than we think we do on a daily basis. Most people lose somewhere in the region of 50 – 100 strands every single day. If you wash your hair, then you will lose double that amount.
We can try to reduce the amount of hair loss that we experience on a daily basis by aiming to strengthen and grow our hair. There are plenty of different ways in which we can do this. But, we believe that if you are experiencing hair loss, a growth stimulating shampoo could be the right product to start with.
An Introduction to Hair Loss Products

New hair loss products are constantly being developed in hair restoration laboratories and plenty of people are more than happy to exchange their credit card for a full head of hair. Some of these focus on essential oils, while others are designed around things like caffeine compounds.
You have to be careful when you come to purchase a new hair loss product because some have been designed with specific people and problems in mind. For example, a product that has been designed for people who suffer from hereditary balding and hair thinning probably won’t help someone who suffers from a receding hairline, and vice versa.
Remember that no product will work like a miracle product. There are no miracle treatments. You have to successfully combine a treatment with some of the positive habits and behaviours that can be found in section six of this article.
This means that using the right shampoo and conditioner is only half of the battle. You should also use either supplements or oils to make sure that your hair and scalp get everything that they need. Be careful when you are choosing your products and make sure that you choose something that is suitable for your hair type.
Once you have the right shampoo, conditioner and supplements in place, you will need to take a quick look at your diet and make sure that it contains everything that you need it to contain.
Which foods provide the vitamins that are needed to help with hair growth?
A number of important vitamins and minerals can help with hair growth, including vitamin A, vitamin B (biotin), vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E and omega-3. If you want to give your hair some extra strength, then you will need to start thinking about adding these to your diet.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is fat-soluble and it can be found in a few different forms, including retinal, retinol, retinoids and dehydroretinol. It can be used to treat and reduce the symptoms of a few different health conditions, including hair loss.
You can easily add vitamin A to your diet. You could do this by taking a cod liver oil supplement on a daily basis, or you could do it by adding specific types of food into your diet. These include everything from salmon and tuna to cheddar and camembert. A more thorough list of foods can be found here.
Vitamin C

Vitamin C in fruits and vegetables
Vitamin C is a well-known vitamin that most people recognise as being able to promote hair growth and strength. It also has anti-oxidant properties, which has led to it being the focus of a number of different research studies.
It is really easy to put more vitamin C in your diet. You could start off by adding broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, spinach and other leafy greens to your weekly menu.
Vitamin D

Foods rich in natural vitamin D
Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins that you need to think about if you are currently suffering from hair loss. This is because vitamin D deficiency is often associated with hair loss. It plays several key roles in skin and hair maintenance, including hair follicle maintenance.
If you want to add more vitamin D to your diet, then you could start by adding fatty fish and some dairy products to your daily indulgencies. You could also make the most of the sunshine and head out to catch some rays. Just make sure that you protect your skin at the same time.
Vitamin E

Foods rich in vitamin E
Vitamin E is one of the most popular vitamins when it comes to promoting hair growth and beauty. It has a number of antioxidant properties and it can help to fix some of the damage that is caused by oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can be found at the core of some hair loss risk factors.
You can add extra vitamin E to your diet by implementing more vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and leafy green vegetables.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Food rich in omega 3 fatty acid
Omega-3 fatty acids are important because they can reduce inflammation and nourish hair follicles. If you have a nutritional deficiency related form of hair loss, then it could be related to a lack of omega-3 fatty acids.
We would advise that you start adding fish and other seafood to your diet. You could also try snacking on nuts and seeds.
Biotin

Foods rich in Biotin (vitamin B7)
If you take anything away from this article, please let it be that biotin is really important when it comes to hair health. It can prevent your hair from becoming brittle.
We would always advise that you add more biotin to your diet if your hair is becoming brittle. You can do this by eating things like egg yolk, almonds, cauliflower, cheeses and sweet potato.
Best Hair Growth Products for Women & Men
1. Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo & Conditioner
1.1. Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner – For Both

Argan Oil Shampoo, Sulfate Free, 8 oz

Argan Oil Shampoo and Hair Conditioner Set
This Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner is a product that is quick to advertise itself as the “ultimate haircare formula”. We believe in taking everything with a pinch of salt, but it is easy to see how the presence of argan oil could play a key role in promoting healthy hair and hair growth. This shampoo and conditioner set also contains Vitamin A, B1, B2, D and E. As you will already know, all of these help with the health of your hair.
Why Does This Product Work?
Argan oil is something that has already been proven to be an effective hair loss treatment in clinical settings, but it also has a long history of being used as a successful treatment. It was initially used to treat skin diseases and small things like dandruff.
Argan oil is rich in phenols, which are beneficial to our hair follicles. This can promote hair growth. The oil itself is natural, it is naturally extracted from the fruit of argan trees. Trees that grow in Morocco.
It is also worth noting that this shampoo and conditioner set contains no artificial colours or additives. It is also sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free. The holy trifecta. You need to make sure that you look for these factors as their presence could completely negate any of the benefits that you should get to experience with products like these ones.
1. 2. Ultrax Labs Hair Surge Shampoo – For Both

Ultrax Labs Hair Surge | Caffeine Hair Loss Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo 8 oz
If you are looking for an ingredient that is guaranteed to work, then you don’t need to look any further than the caffeine that can be found in this Ultrax Labs Hair Surge Shampoo. Caffeine has been the topic of several scientific studies. They have successfully proven that caffeine causes hair follicles to grow more rapidly than they do when alternative ingredients are present. It has also been shown to reduce hair loss.
Unfortunately, you can’t drink your weight in caffeine and expect to come out of it with a healthy head of hair. You would have to drink hundreds of cups of coffee every day. Products like this one tend to contain caffeine compounds that have been carefully balanced with other ingredients.
Why Does This Product Work?
This product is one that we love because it delivers all of the right ingredients that are needed right to the hair follicles. The caffeinated compounds have been mixed with essential oils and ketoconazole, something that prevents the build-up of fungus that could potentially inhibit your hair growth.
This shampoo also contains something called saw palmetto. In studies, saw palmetto has been proven to potentially stop testosterone from being converted into DHT that could stunt hair growth. It has positive reviews across the board because of this from both men and women. It is also a cruelty free product. What more could you want than this growth stimulating product for different hair types?
1.3. Biotin Shampoo for Hair Growth – For Both

If you have recently dyed your hair or had it processed, then you might have found that your new hair colour comes hand in hand with a few setbacks. Dyeing your hair can cause a lot of damage that can result in breakage and a shorter hair life cycle. This Biotin Shampoo for Hair Growth is wonderful because it can help to stop hair loss in damaged hair.
This product contains vitamin B5, zinc, coconut oil and biotin. As well as a plethora of other useful and clinically proven ingredients.
Why Does This Product Work?
The blend of sought after ingredients that can be found inside of this shampoo works perfectly when it comes to removing DHT from the scalp. It also stimulates the hair follicles and encourages each stage of the natural growth cycle. Try to remember that each stage is valuable and desirable, even the one that involves shedding hair.
The biotin that is present in this shampoo will actually slow the shedding stage down slightly so that the anagen stage can catch up. This will result in a head of thicker and fuller hair, but that won’t happen overnight. Remember that it is important to nourish your hair from the roots down, not the other way round.
If you are currently suffering from hair loss, a hair growth stimulating shampoo like this one is what you should be looking for. Most dermatologists recommend that their clients try to use a specialised shampoo before they try anything else and caffeine hair loss shampoos are a great option. If you do have oily skin or skin problems, then you should make sure that you purchase a product like this one so that you know what ingredients are present.
1.4. SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo and Conditioner – For Both

Shea Moisture Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo and Conditioner Set
If you are looking for a growth stimulating shampoo and a deep conditioner, then look no further. The shampoo that comes with this set has been designed to add volume to lip curls and smooth frizzy curls. If you have straight hair that is quite thin, then another product would probably be a better option for you.
Both the shampoo and the conditioner contain a myriad of all natural ingredients, including herbs and argan oil. They both also contain shea butter, something that is rich in fatty acids and promotes hair growth. If you are struggling with controlling your curls and keeping them hydrated, then these could potentially help to resolve your problem.
Why Does This Product Work?
You might have heard older people recommend castor oil before today. You should trust them. Castor oil has been used as a home remedy for centuries. It has previously been used to treat a realm of different things and it could help you with your hair health and the health of your scalp. Unfortunately, scientific evidence is lacking when it comes to castor oil and hair growth.
We do know that castor oil has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. This means that it can be used to prevent an overgrowth of bacteria or fungus. Both of which could lead to hair-damaging inflammation in your scalp. We would advise that you use this as a gentle daily wash, because you won’t see any real results if you only use it once a week or bi-weekly.
1.5. PURA D’OR Hair Thinning Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner – For Both

PURA D'OR Hair Thinning Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner
If you are currently trying to find a stimulating shampoo and conditioner set, then it is worth noting that this shampoo and conditioner set is quite unique. Unlike a lot of the hair loss products that are currently available on the market, both of these have clinically tested formulas.
This means that they have both been proven at a scientific level to help with hair that is starting to thin. Try to remember that hair thinning products will not help with a receding hair line of any kind, as they have not been designed to tackle that problem.
Why Does This Product Work?
The PURA D’OR Hair Thinning Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner both work well because they allow you to access twelve different active ingredients. These include niacin, biotin and argan oil. When used together, these effectively detoxify your scalp while also encouraging and promoting healthy hair.
If you have hair that is either thinning or damaged, then this shampoo and conditioner should be gentle enough for you to use on a daily basis so that you get the results that you want. Neither of these contain sulphates, parabens or chemicals. They are also both cruelty free.
1.6. All Natural Biotin Shampoo – For Both

All Natural Biotin Shampoo for Hair Growth & Hair Loss
When you look at each of these products, you should be thinking about how they can enable you to attain extra strength hair and a luxurious scalp. This All Natural Biotin Shampoo could offer you an effective way to treat hair loss and promote hair growth because it focuses on revitalising your hair follicles.
This shampoo can revitalise your follicles because it works solely on stimulating them and stripping them of DHT. If you notice that your hair is shedding more than it should be, then this shampoo could be a great affordable solution. Remember that most hair loss shampoos that are worth your time and your money will be capable of removing some DHT from your scalp.
Why Does This Product Work?
If you are looking for a decent DHT treatment, then this All Natural Biotin Shampoo is the type of product that you are looking for. This particular formula reduces DHT and can slow hair shedding because of this. If you want to have thicker or denser hair, then you need to make sure that you purchase a shampoo that can enable you to attain both of those things.
This product is also paraben free, sulphate free and cruelty free. If you do end up with a shampoo or a conditioner that contains parabens or sulphates, then you should avoid using it on a daily basis.
1.7. Biotin Hair Growth Conditioner – For Both

Biotin Hair Growth CONDITIONER For Hair Loss NATURAL Thickening
Biotin Hair Growth Conditioner is a product that contains saw palmetto, an ingredient that you should already be familiar with if you have read our earlier reviews. If you haven’t, then you will be happy to hear that saw palmetto is one of the key ingredients that you should look for if you are experiencing rapid hair loss.
This conditioner also contains castor oil. If you would like, then you can also use castor oil to do a hot oil treatment and massage it into your scalp. This can help to promote scalp health and encourage hair to grow by stimulating blood flow.
Why Does This Product Work?
Research that has been done in the past has found that hair loss is often caused by a lack of proper hair nourishment. This conditioner has been specially designed to bridge that gap by reducing the amount of DHT that is present in our hair follicles.
If you want to have thicker hair, then you will need to treat your scalp. You should also make sure that you are using something that has been tried and tested to find the right balance, like this conditioner. This conditioner is also free of any of the harsh chemicals that could end up damaging your hair further.
1.8. Organic Vegan Natural Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set – For Both

Organic Vegan Natural Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set
When you are a vegan, finding shampoos and conditioners that are cruelty free and that don’t contain any unwanted and unnecessary ingredients can be really difficult. This Organic Vegan Natural Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set has been specifically designed with vegans in mind. It works well because it still contains all of the ingredients that you need to combat hair loss.
Why Does This Product Work?
One of the main reasons why this product works is not the fact that it contains the ingredients that it needs to contain, but the fact that it avoids any ingredients that could damage your hair further. This negates the risk of any harmful side effects that you could experience when exposed to unnecessary chemicals, like the ones that can be found in supermarket shampoos and conditioners.
This shampoo and conditioner set also contains an organic additive that can soothe any itchy feelings that you may experience. If you are prone to pulling your own hair out or playing with your hair, then this could really help with that.
1.9. Nourish Beaute Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set

NEW! PREMIUM Vitamins Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner
This Nourish Beaute Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set has been designed with not just a singular formula, but two singular formulas that work perfectly together. This helps to prevent any further hair loss and jumpstart total hair growth restoration. That might sound like a pretty big claim, but clinical trials have also been able to back up the authenticity of this product.
Why Does This Product Work?
This hair loss product has been designed with a range of people in mind, including people who suffer from alopecia, male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness, hormonal imbalances, thyroid problems and receding hairlines. Both the shampoo and conditioner are suitable for use with all hair types.
The shampoo encourages your hair to grow thicker and fuller. It contains biotin, argan oil, keratin and many other useful ingredients. The conditioner acts as a thickening agent that specifically targets your roots and hair follicles. All of the ingredients in the conditioner are patented, but we do know that it contains caffeine, a hair loss product staple.
2. Promoting Hair Growth: Vitamins, Oils & Supplements
2.1. DrFormulas HairOmega 3-in-1 Hair Growth Vitamins with DHT Blocker and Biotin – For Both

As we have already mentioned in this article, your diet is a key factor that could aid or hinder your hair regrowth adventure. DrFormulas HairOmega 3-in-1 Hair Growth Vitamins have been designed with that in mind, to fill in the vitamins and minerals that you could be lacking. When we fertilize plants, we are trying to make them grow as well as they can, we are not trying to force growth that doesn’t exist. These vitamins are like hair fertilizer, enabling your hair to be as strong as it can be.
It is worth noting that this type of hair vitamin has been manufactured in a facility that is frequently inspected by the FDA. This means that this hair regrowth treatment and other hair regrowth treatments from the same company are perfectly safe to use.
Why Does This Product Work?
DHT is one of the primary causes of poor hair growth. It binds to your hair follicles and stunts the growth of your hair, meaning that you would need to consume something that stimulates hair growth to counteract it.
You need to make sure that you are getting all of the vitamins and minerals that you need in your diet, but getting the right amounts of the right ones can be difficult. These vitamins contain 41 different ingredients. Most of which consist of natural herbs and vitamins that have been handpicked to nourish your roots and support healthy hair and hair growth.
Some of the notable ingredients are biotin, zinc, saw palmetto, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E and magnesium. A magnesium deficiency can actually be an early sign of hair loss so we are impressed to see that magnesium is present.
These capsules are vegetarian friendly and you need to use two capsules a day for several weeks before you can expect to see any results. There are no artificial dyes. Try to remember that these vitamins will not just affect the growth rate of your hair, they will also help with everything from your overall health to the quality of your skin.
2.2. Ultrax Labs Hair Rush – For Both

Ultrax Labs Hair Rush
Ultrax Labs Hair Rush vitamins work in a way that is similar to the DrFormulas Vitamins, but they aren’t quite as effective. It does consist of a drug-free formula that is safe, effective and has no side effects. It is worth noting that this product is advertised as “an advanced form of hair nutrition” and we think that it would work perfectly with people who are struggling to get everything that they need in their daily diet.
Why Does This Product Work?
This product works because it contains more than 20 essential vitamins, minerals and herbs. There are no redundant ingredients, they are all things that can affect the overall health of your hair by addressing the root cause of the problem. Treatments for hair loss have to address the root cause of the problem like this, but they also have to prevent any further damage.
If you suffer from thinning hair, then these vitamins would be a good option for you. They could potentially revitalise and repair your damaged hair follicles. You won’t notice any results straight away with these vitamins. We would estimate that you will have to use them for at least a month before any noticeable changes occur.
These vitamins contain everything from solubilised keratin to nettle leaf powder. They also contain saw palmetto. Clinical trials that have involved the Ultrax Labs Hair Rush Vitamins have shown that they may help to block testosterone from ever becoming DHT, preventing what would be a build-up of DHT in and around your hair follicles.
2.3. DasGro Hair Growth Vitamins with DHT Blocker and Biotin – For Both

DasGro Hair Growth Vitamins With Biotin & DHT Blocker, Stops Hair Loss
These DasGro Hair Growth Vitamins are unique in that they work as a natural hair loss treatment, not just a way of nourishing the hair that you currently have. The use of these vitamins blocks DHT because they contain DHT blockers. The other ingredients have been carefully curated to address some of the vitamin deficiencies that can lead to hair loss.
Why Does This Product Work?
As we have mentioned, saw palmetto is an ingredient that you should keep your eyes peeled for because scientists believe that it could stop testosterone from being converted into DHT. These vitamins also contain biotin and several other ingredients that can help with hair loss and hair growth.
These vitamins do not contain any preservatives and they are cruelty free. Using them will not damage your hair further, nor will it prevent your hair from growing. These vitamins have been manufactured in an FDA approved facility so you can rest peacefully knowing that everything is above board. We would recommend that you use these products for several months before you judge the results.
2.4. Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil – For Both

Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil
In our opinion, using oil is easier than taking vitamins every day, but it will take longer for you to see results. Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil is a potent blend of essential oils and herbal extracts, some of which promote hair growth and some of which help to nourish your scalp to get it prepared.
This topical treatment is little more than a hair growth serum that works, you don’t have to spend your time messing around with it. Some products, like certain caffeine hair loss hair growth treatments, need to be consistently reapplied on a daily basis. This can make life difficult for people who are constantly on the move.
Why Does This Product Work?
This oil works to combat hair loss because it focuses on strengthening hair at the root and awakening the hair follicles one by one. It has been specially formulated to do this. All of the ingredients on the oil have been picked because they have been clinically proven to affect hair growth.
Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil does come with an applicator that you can use to apply it to areas where your hair is thinning. We would advise that you use it on your entire head because hair loss doesn’t usually target one area, it just becomes more evident in some areas. You will also have to be consistent with this oil if you want to see hair growth results.
2.5. Ultrax Labs Hair Vigor – For Both

Ultrax Labs Hair Vigor | Hair Loss Deep Conditioner Mask for Hair Growth Stimulating Caffeine Deep Conditioning Hair Masque Treatment
Ultrax Labs Hair Vigor is an excellent hair regrowth conditioning mask that works for both men and women. We knew before we even used this product that it would work to some extent because it contains caffeine. Caffeine stimulates hair growth and targets some of the DHT that surrounds the hair follicles.
When too much DHT is attached to the follicles, the hair strands cannot access any of the vital vitamins, proteins or minerals that they need to grow. It is incredibly important to get rid of as much DHT as possible, especially if you are experiencing rapid hair loss.
Why Does This Product Work?
This hair mask works in the same way that any other leave in conditioner or mask would, just this one is a growth stimulating caffeine hair mask. A lot of people who have dyed hair struggle to use hair regrowth masks because they normally strip colour, but this one is actually colour safe. It can even act to hydrate hair that has been previously coloured.
The mask itself contains many different hair boosting ingredients that work to do everything from combatting dry scalps to repairing hair follicles that are not already too damaged. Please note that if your scalp is scarred, then there will be very little that you can do to encourage hair growth.
2.6. Tropic Isle Living Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil – For Both

Tropic Isle Living- Strong Roots Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil-4oz
Tropic Isle Living Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil is a unique concoction that has been specifically designed to strengthen hair from the hair follicles down. It promotes hair growth and a healthy, well-structured hair life cycle. This product really is all about looking after the hair that you have got and promoting new hair growth.
Growth serums can be a fantastic option for people who don’t want to spend a lot of their time caring for their hair. Some treatments for hair loss need to be applied, reapplied and left on for hours. This type of hair oil is different because you only need to use a small amount and it isn’t a time consuming process.
Why Does This Product Work?
This oil works in a few different ways. We wouldn’t jump in the air and say that it encourages hair growth as well as caffeine-infused products do, but it does do a few unique things. It moisturises the hair, helping to prevent excessive breakage and split ends. It also helps to stop the scalp from drying out, something that could make it difficult for new hairs to grow.
If you need to control frizz, then this oil can enable you to do that. But, at the same time it will be softening the elasticity of your hair and increasing volume. We would say that this oil works perfectly for hair that is prone to breakage, sheds excessively and is thinner than it should be.
2.7. Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil – For Both

Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil 8 oz - Glass Bottle
Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a top-selling treatment that is primarily used by people who have curly hair. It has been developed to add life to hair that needs to be revitalised by adding both strength and shine to fragile strands. This stops any unnecessary breakage from occurring.
Why Does This Product Work?
If you have curly hair, then this oil could work wonders for you. We would also recommend that you use this castor oil as both a deep conditioner and a hot oil treatment, so that you can get the best of both worlds. This will make the hair that you have healthier and support it while stronger hair grows. If you choose to do a hot oil treatment, then you need to make sure that the oil is not hot enough to burn you.
This oil can in turn stop your hair from falling out or breaking and snapping. It also acts quickly to stimulate hair growth and thicken hair that is starting to get thin because of breakage. This is done by repairing and preventing any hair damage.
2.8. InstaNatural Organic Argan Oil

Organic Argan Oil - for Hair, Face, Skin and Body - 100% Pure and Certified Organic Cold Pressed Argan Oil of Morocco
If you decide that you would like to use an argan oil based product to combat and prevent hair loss, then this InstaNatural Organic Argan Oil is a wonderful option. It has been imported from Morocco, where argan trees are grown and argan oil is manufactured.
Why Does This Product Work?
One of the first things that we would like to say about this oil is that it cannot only be used to benefit your hair. It can also be used to hydrate peeling or damaged skin that simply needs to be moisturised. If you know that your skin gets dry in the winter, then having a bottle of this oil around could really help with that.
Natural argan oil can also be used to treat a flaking scalp and frizzy hair that has been damaged, not just hair loss. This means that it is suitable for use with all hair types, regardless of what the problem may be.
We would recommend that you use this oil in the same way that you would use a leave-in conditioner. That way, it can really get to the root of the problem and soak into your hair. If your hair has just been covered in shampoo, then it probably won’t absorb as much of this as it otherwise would. This is because damaged and tired hairs soak up liquids like a sponge would.
3. The Best Hair Loss Treatments: Minoxidil Formula and Serum
3.1. Men’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam – For Men

Men's Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam for Hair Loss and Hair Regrowth
Minoxidil is quite a unique ingredient, but we will discuss it more in the next section. Rogaine was one of the first companies to patent it as an official hair regrowth treatment and they used it to create one of the first FDA-approved hair loss foams. This is worth focusing your attention on because it means that this ingredient has been proven to work in clinical settings.
Why Does This Product Work?
Men’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam is a fantastic option for people who suffer from hereditary hair loss or male pattern baldness. As we have stated, it has been approved by the FDA. This means that it has been clinically proven to help hair regrowth in men, even when it has only been used for a couple of weeks.
We would naturally advise that you use it for several months. It utilises tricho-prime technology to stimulate hair growth. This is possible because it means that the proprietary ingredients are evenly distributed across the scalp and hair follicles, enabling the ingredients to reactivate hair follicles that have shrunken over time.
We understand that formulas should really meet the needs of either gender, which is why there is also an alternative option for women:
3.2. Women’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam – For Women

Women's Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam for Hair Thinning and Loss
As we have already mentioned, minoxidil is a wonder ingredient. This product has been brought to us by the same company who brought us the previous product and it works in the same way. The only difference is that the ingredients in this foam have been tailored to meet the needs of people who suffer from female pattern baldness.
Why Does This Product Work?
As we have previously mentioned, Rogaine have had these products approved by the FDA. The Women’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam has been clinically proven to regrow up to 25% more hair than alternative products. The results that you get could vary, but it is worth a chance.
Try to remember that this product is meant for daily use, not occasional use. If you were to use it occasionally, then you would not see any results. There is no “miracle” hair regrowth treatment that can replace your hair overnight, as much as we would all love for there to be one.
3.3. Kirkland Signature Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Solution – For Men

Kirkland Signature Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Solution For Men
The Kirkland Signature Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Solution has been specifically designed for men who have a general thinning of hair. This means that it will not work for people who have receding hairlines, nor will it work for people who are losing hair because of a medical condition or a similar problem.
Why Does This Product Work?
This product is marketed as containing 5% minoxidil, just like our Rogaine alternatives. It is worth noting that most of the hair regrowth treatments that are currently available on the market only contain 2% minoxidil. Would you rather see strong effects or weak ones? That is the question that you need to ask yourself when you are working out which strength to choose.
We would happily recommend this product to people who have sensitive skin. Minoxidil has been clinically proven to be more effective than alternative products. This solution is easy to apply because you can use either a topical solution or a foam. If you choose the topical solution, then you will have to use the dropper style applicator and then massage the product into your scalp.
3.4. VEGAMOUR Volumizing Hair Serum – For Both

VEGAMOUR Volumizing Hair Serum, Natural, Plant-based DHT Inhibitor, 2 oz
VEGAMOUR Volumizing Hair Serum is a rather special serum that has been specially formulated to increase hair density. If your hair is starting to thin out and you want it to be thick again, then this is the sort of serum that you should be looking for. This particular serum contains a proprietary blend of natural, plant-based ingredients that have been picked out to inhibit collections of DHT around the hair follicles.
Why Does This Product Work?
This serum works by stimulating your hair follicles, without the need for any harsh chemicals or any other ingredients that could potentially strip the beneficial oils away from your hair. It also contains phyto-actives; these help to keep your roots strong. As you will probably already know, your hair should be strengthened from the roots down, and not vice versa.
3.5. Ultrax Labs Hair Plush Serum – For Both

Ultrax Labs Hair Plush | Lush Caffeine Hair Loss Hair Growth Thickening Treatment Formula Serum
When we look at serums that have been crafted with hair regrowth in mind, most of them contain natural ingredients and ingredients that are quite soft, or so to speak. The Ultrax Labs Hair Plush Serum is a little bit different because it is actually a caffeine thickening system. Caffeine is pretty much guaranteed to help your hair grow so this product is worth a try.
Why Does This Product Work?
This serum is considered to be one of the most effective caffeine treatments that is currently available on the market. It could add both fullness and body to your hair and it works for both men and women. It also speeds up the production of new hair growth by jump starting the hair follicles.
4. The Best Hair Brushes for Hair Regrowth
When you are looking for products that could enable your hair to grow, you also need to go back to basics by looking at some other aspects of your daily hair adventure. Gentle strokes with a hair brush can help to prevent hair breakage, but if you have a hair brush that your hair is just going to get stuck in, then that is probably going to cause more problems.
When it comes to growing hair, some hair brushes are better than others. Here are our favourites:
4.1. HairMax Prima LaserComb – For Both

HairMax Prima LaserComb (Prima 9)
This unique comb is an FDA approved home-use medical device that has been designed and manufactured with treating hair loss in mind. It can be used to promote hair growth in both women and men. This product is also thought to reverse the thinning process by helping your hair to grow for longer and grow stronger, but how can a comb do all of this?
Why Does This Product Work?
We love the fact that the HairMax Prima LaserComb stimulates hair growth by extending the length of each life cycle. It can do this because it has nine different medical-grade lasers. They create something called photobiostimulation, meaning that the hair follicles are stimulated at a cellular level. This specialist comb has been the focus of seven clinical studies and it has been proven to be effective.
It is worth noting that laser hair growth treatments are relatively new and they are still being studied. We are expecting more and more products like this one to hit the market soon and we can only imagine that they will get even more effective than they currently are.
4.2. Beauty by Earth Boar Bristle Hair Brush – For Both

Hair Brush, Boar Bristle Hair Brush
Boar bristle brushes like this Beauty by Earth Boar Bristle Hair Brush are a great option for people who simply need a standard hairbrush to run through their hair. They create a healthy sheen and help by preventing breakage and split ends. It is worth noting that boar bristle brushes can usually be used on human hair and wig hair.
Why Does This Product Work?
This comb works amazingly because it is suitable for most hair types. The pure boar bristles and nylon pins work together to detangle the hair and spread natural oils from the roots to the tips. While you are brushing your hair with this brush, it will also be stimulating your scalp and creating more blood flow – something that can help your hair to grow when it is starting to get thin.
4.3. Dry Scalp Paddle Brush – For Both

Dry Scalp Paddle Brush for Hair -Large - by Beyond 100 Naturals
This is a beautiful bamboo hairbrush that serves a much larger purpose than simply looking pretty. Hairbrushes like the Dry Scalp Paddle Brush are incredibly unique because they do not produce any static. This can really aid people who suffer from frizzy hair because it means that their hair will not go everywhere when it is being brushed.
Why Does This Product Work?
This hairbrush works because it can detangle hair without pulling it out, even when knots are present. But, it also works as part of a hair regrowth treatment programme because the scalp massager can stimulate healthy blood flow. Healthy blood flow is a vital part of the hair life cycle because each strand is connected to blood vessels while it is growing.
5. The Best Hair Loss Treatments: Modern Laser Technology
Laser technology is an area that is currently being explored by scientists and dermatologists as a possible solution to hair loss. As technology advances, we are beginning to see a number of new products emerge, here are our favourites:
5.1 iRestore Laser Hair Growth System

iRestore Laser Hair Growth System - FDA Cleared for Men and Women - Female & Male Hair Loss Treatments for Thinning
The iRestore Laser Hair Growth System is a unique laser product because it has actually been cleared to work for the FDA. They have stated that it can be used to treat hair loss, alopecia, receding hair lines, balding and thinning hair in both genders. This means that this Laser Growth System could be a great option for you if you are currently suffering from one of the aforementioned problems.
Why Does This Product Work?
The iRestore Hair Growth System has actually been featured in a number of different clinical studies, involving both genders. These studies have taken months, because hair loss products take more than just a single week to use. In one of the research studies, a whopping 100% of all of the participants saw a visible improvement.
We would recommend that you use this laser hair restoration technology along with another form of hair growth treatment to maximise your results. For example, you could use a hair health multivitamin to make sure that the hair that you are able to grow is as healthy as it can be, whereas this product would tackle the exact problem of restoring hair that you have lost.
5.2 GrivaMax Laser Cap

Laser Cap GrivaMax Pro272 - FDA Cleared Therapy Hat for Hair Regrowth Medical Treatment Alopecia
If you are currently looking for something that is a little bit more discreet than the iRestore Laser Hair Growth System, then you should take a little look at the GrivaMax Laser Cap. It looks like a normal cap, not a hair growth product. This cap has also been approved for use by the FDA and it has been the subject of a number of different clinical trials.
Why Does This Product Work?
We think that this cap is the perfect hair growth solution for people who live hectic lives. You simply have to put it on your head and you can go about your day, knowing what it is doing for your hair loss. It has only been proven to reverse the process of hair loss in people who have androgenetic alopecia. If you suffer from any other form of hair loss, then this cap might not be suitable for you.
Try to remember to use hair growth products like this one simultaneously with something else. For example, you could also use a hair growth serum to strip your scalp of some of the excess DHT that might be causing your hair loss.
5.3 CapillusPro Mobile Laser Therapy Cap

CapillusPro Mobile Laser Therapy Cap for Hair Regrowth
If you are currently experiencing a form of genetic hair loss, then the CapillusPro Mobile Laser Therapy Cap might be able to help you tackle that. It has a proven 95% success rate. But, if you suffer from anything other than hereditary hair loss, then it probably won’t work for you.
Why Does This Product Work?
As we have mentioned, this product has an amazing success rate. It has also been cleared by the FDA as a safe and effective treatment for hereditary hair loss. If you are not sure whether or not your hair loss is hereditary, then you should seek medical advice before deciding to purchase a product like this one.
You only need to wear this cap for 6 minutes a day to see results, but you could easily walk to work with this cap on and no one would know. It contains approximately 272 laser diodes, meaning that your entire scalp will be covered when it is on your head.
15 Tips and Tricks for Rapid Hair Growth and Thickness
Things That Prevent Hair Growth + Things That Enable Hair Growth
1. The wrong hair combing technique.
Combing your hair might sound like something that is impossible to get wrong, but lots of people do. Using the wrong technique causes hair loss and it is something that you should avoid whenever possible.
It is worth noting that your hair is weakest when wet, which is why you should actually avoid combing your hair until it has started to dry. Have you ever been brushing wet hair and noticed that it just gets knotty and is easy to pull out? That is why you should wait, especially if your hair is currently thinning out.
You should also be careful when you are combing your hair when it is dry. Most people start combing their hair from the roots down, but this is a terrible idea. You should only ever work your comb from halfway down your hair to start with and then move further up your head when you are certain that there are no knots present. If you start at the top, then you will have to fight impossibly large tangles. This can cause a lot of breakage, especially if you do it on a daily basis.
2.Not protecting your hair from direct sunlight and heat.
Our hair is unique and it serves a number of different purposes. It protects us from UV radiation and it insulates our bodies when we are cold, but we also need to protect it like it protects us. Our hair follicles can stop functioning properly if they are overexposed to the sun and you need to bear this in mind.
Naturally, this can affect how quickly our hair grows. If you do not protect your scalp, then the blood vessels in your scalp could also become inflamed and dilated. This can cause our hair to enter the shedding phase at a rapid rate, something that we are assuming you would rather avoid.
You can also damage your hair in a similar way by using hot tools. If you are using hot tools regularly, then you should also use protective sprays and oils. If you don’t, then your hair will become brittle and prone to snapping.
3.Washing your hair too frequently.
We want to start this section off by saying that washing your hair every day is not enough to cause hair loss. But, you should still avoid washing your hair every day. If you wash your hair every day, then what you are actually doing is stripping all of the essential oils that your scalp needs to stay moisturised and strong.
Remember that shampoos can’t target bad oils. They strip your hair of all of the oils that are present. In an ideal world, you should aim to wash your hair 2 – 3 times a week. You should also try to avoid sulphates and parabens.
4.Not using the right ingredients.
Make sure that you check all of your shampoo and conditioner labels before you even think about using them on your hair. You should also try to make sure that your shampoo and conditioner have both been FDA-approved, or approved by the relevant body. If you want to know what ingredients you should look for, then you can find our favourite ingredients in the FAQ section at the bottom of this page.
More and more attention is being paid to the ingredients that should be present in shampoo and conditioner. To the point where Johnson & Johnson’s recently removed an ingredient called Quaternium-15 from their products. Quaternium-15 is a formaldehyde releasing preservative. It has been linked to hormonal imbalances and hair loss.
It is worth noting that standard things like fragrances and artificial colours can also be irritants. Try to make sure that you check the label and look for something that suits your needs.
5.Keeping your hair pulled tight.
Keeping your hair pulled tight is one of the worst things that you can do. This means braids, it means buns, it means tight ponytails and it means cornrows. Any tight hairstyle could potentially cause traction alopecia. This occurs when the hair is persistently pulled.
Have you ever noticed that some women get bald patches when they have been wearing extensions? Those are a form of traction alopecia as the bald patches occur where their own hair has been pulled at the roots.
Vigorous combing and brushing can have the same effect as a tight hairstyle. This is one of the many reasons why you should make sure that you comb your hair properly, rather than ragging a brush or a comb from the roots down.
If you know that you currently have traction alopecia and you need advice on growing your hair, then this video has some great tips
6. Try to avoid compulsively twisting, rubbing or pulling at your hair.
We understand that twirling, twisting, rubbing and pulling your own hair can be habitual behaviour. Breaking habits is difficult. But, these behaviours can easily go from being relatively normal behaviours to compulsive behaviours. These could then go on to cause self-inflicted hair loss.
If you do have any of these issues, then we would advise that you try to identify your triggers. If you can identify your triggers, then you might be able to deal with them.
7. Trying to avoid medications that can cause hair loss.
Unfortunately, hair loss is actually a pretty common side effect that a lot of different medications have. If your medication is causing your hair to thin, then you should go and see whether or not an alternative medication can be prescribed by your doctor. Try not to panic either, this type of hair loss is usually reversible as long as the right steps are taken.
Hair loss sometimes occurs because medications can actually cause the hair follicles to enter the resting phase. This naturally leads to your hair shedding much earlier than it otherwise would have. Everything from antibiotics to mood stabilisers can cause hair loss so you should always check the label.
8. Massage your scalp regularly to increase blood flow and stimulate your hair follicles.
Massaging your scalp regularly is something that you should definitely be doing if you are suffering from hair loss. By massaging your scalp, you will be able to increase the amount of blood flow that is present near the roots of your hair.
Coconut oil massages are especially beneficial because they also enable you to access the benefits of using coconut oil. The same could be said about castor oil massages. These work to condition the scalp, root and shaft of the hair.
9. Avoid stress as much as you can.
As this video thoroughly explains, stress cannot actually cause baldness. If you already have male or female pattern baldness, then it could aggravate that and that would cause the baldness, not just the stress. Stress can easily cause things to manifest, but there has to be another root cause. When the stressful factor is removed, your hair will usually grow back.
10. Be gentle while you are washing your hair.
If you know that your hair is weak, then you should try your best to be gentle when you are washing, drying and brushing your hair. Any aggressive movements could potentially cause your hair to fall out sooner than it otherwise would have. This is something that you want to avoid. Be gentle and try to nourish your scalp and your hair.
11.Avoid smoking if you can.
Smoking is something that can contribute to hair loss, but it cannot directly cause it. DHT has much more of an effect. We do know that smoking reduces the blood flow to the extremities of your body, including your scalp. This could mean that smoking affects the blood vessels that your hair needs to grow.
We also know that smoking affects our livers. Our livers are like giant filters. Smoking could potentially have a clogging effect on our pores, but more research needs to be done. If your hair is starting to get thinner, then we would advise that you cut down on your cigarette consumption to give yourself the best chance.
12. Use cold water when you are washing your hair.
Using cold water cannot stop hair loss that has already happened, but it can help to promote healthy hair. When you use hot water, your hair starts to dry out. This can make your hair brittle and prone to breaking. Cold water does the opposite as it tightens the cuticle layer and encourages stronger hair. Some studies have found that it may slow down hair loss, but more research needs to be done into this area.
13. Take vitamin pills and supplements if you are struggling with hair loss.
If you are currently struggling with hair loss, then you shouldn’t be afraid of taking supplements. Your hair needs supplements in the same way that the human body occasionally needs them. If you want to maintain thick and healthy hair, then try to make sure that you are consuming all of the vitamins that your hair needs.
Remember to look for iron, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids and biotin. Your hair will become brittle quickly if there isn’t enough biotin in your diet.
14. Make sure that you drink enough water.
Drinking a lot of water is something that we should all be doing on a daily basis. If you allow yourself to become dehydrated, then you will naturally experience a number of different consequences. If your hair is dehydrated, the it will start to break more. This could involve it snapping at the shaft and falling out.
Restoring hair health can be difficult, but you should start by making sure that you are hydrated to rule out that factor.
15. Eat protein rich foods and foods that contain all of the vitamins that can be found in Section 5.
If you are losing your hair, then you should start thinking about eating foods that are high in both iron and protein. Deficiencies in either can cause unexplained hair thinning, as can a bad diet. Iron deficiency regularly causes hair loss in women. If you know that you are low in iron, then your blood doesn’t contain enough red blood cells to transport oxygen around your body. This means that your hair won’t have an effective blood supply.
At the same time, if you don’t want to take a supplement that contains all of the different minerals and vitamins that your hair needs, then you will need to make sure that they are present in your diet. This is especially true when we are talking about biotin.
Your hair could become prone to breaking if you do not consume enough biotin. It can be found in liver, egg yolks, nuts and seeds, as well as salmon, dairy products and avocados.
Make a checklist of all of the different vitamins that you need to consume and try to fit them in in your weekly diet.
FAQ
What is DHT?
DHT is something that is present in both men and women and we start to create more of it as we age. It is quite dangerous when it comes to hair loss because it binds to the roots of our hair. This can stunt our hair growth.
It is worth noting that DHT is more common in men than women and it contributes to male pattern baldness. If you know that male pattern baldness runs in your family, then you will need to use a shampoo or conditioner that can tackle DHT. You should also note that DHT is linked to prostate cancer.
How can using a DHT blocker help with hair growth?
We have already talked about the ways in which DHT can inhibit hair growth, so it is only right that we talk about how to stop it from doing that too. A DHT blocker can promote hair growth because it blocks DHT from inhibiting hair growth.
Some treatments to prevent DHT might also help with male pattern baldness. For example, Finasteride, a drug that was approved by the FDA in 1997 is known to inhibit the production of DHT with results that are apparently impressive. But, we would also like to state that it does have a number of adverse side effects.
What ingredients should I be looking for?
There are lots of different ingredients that you should look for if you are worried about hair loss. They include:
- Ketoconazole: Ketoconazole can be used to control the fungus that grows on the scalp. This fungus can cause our hair follicles to become inflamed and that can stop our hair from growing.
- Biotin: Studies have successfully shown us that a lack of either biotin or zinc can directly cause hair loss. A lack of biotin can also cause the hair to become brittle and start breaking.
- Saw Palmetto: Studies have shown that saw palmetto could potentially block an enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. DHT shrinks our hair follicles so further research should definitely be done into this area.
- Caffeine: Caffeine is an ingredient that is present in all of the best hair regrowth products. It promotes hair growth and reduces hair loss. If you would like to learn more about caffeine and hair regrowth, then you can read our reviews above.
- Finasteride: As we have already mentioned, Finasteride can be used to treat male pattern baldness. Unfortunately, it can cause a lot of side effects.
- Minoxidil: Minoxidil has been scientifically proven to be effective in treating both male and female pattern baldness and thinning hair. Products that contain minoxidil can be quite expensive, but they are worthwhile.
How does biotin help with hair growth?
In scientific studies, biotin has been found to increase hair strength and potentially reverse hair loss. Most dermatologists recommend that people use biotin before they try anything else when they are suffering from hair loss.
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is also known as vitamin H. It has been linked to hair, skin and nail health. If you are not consuming enough biotin, then you will probably experience hair loss.
A study in 2015 found that biotin is incredibly effective at treating hair loss. Women in the study were given either biotin or a placebo. The women who were not given the placebo experienced a significant amount of hair growth and less shedding. This proves that biotin plays a massive part in hair growth.
Does silica help with hair growth?
Yes! Silica has been shown to support all of the connective tissues that can be found in our bodies. It is a kind of micronutrient that is important for healthy growth. It is an abundant micronutrient that is primarily found in leafy greens and it balances calcium, magnesium and hormones.
This can help to prevent hair thinning that would be caused by hormone imbalance. If you want to increase the amount of silica in your diet, then you could think about taking a supplement. Make sure that you talk to your doctor first because silica can lower your blood sugar levels.
How does zinc help with hair growth?
Zinc can help to prevent the scalp from becoming dry and flaky. It is a vital mineral that promotes healthy hair, skin and nails. Lots of dermatologists would recommend it when hair thinning first starts to appear.
We would recommend that you choose a good zinc supplement if you are experiencing hair thinning. Seek a medical professional if you want to check that you don’t have a zinc deficiency. Don’t try to self-diagnose over the internet.
Does castor oil help with hair loss?
Castor oil and coconut oil have both been used as home remedies for decades, they have been found to be great for people who have curly hair. One of the reasons why castor oil helps with hair thinning is because it has natural antiviral and antimicrobial properties. This means that it can strip the scalp of fungus.
You can use castor oil by massaging it onto your scalp, or you can purchase a shampoo/conditioner that contains castor oil. Castor oil is used frequently in formulas that have been specially developed for black hair due to the moisturising properties that it has.
Conclusion
As you can see, coming back from thinning hair is a long and difficult road, but it is one that you can take on by yourself. Start by altering your diet and making sure that you are hydrated. Choose a good hair regrowth shampoo and conditioner and then start adding supplements to your diet.
If those things don’t work, then you can get an oil and massage it into your head regularly. Make sure that you consult our tips and tricks section for more advice. Sometimes we do things that harm our hair, like putting it in a tight bobble, without even realising that we are doing that.
